- Job Description: Waste Management Student
As a Waste Management Student, you are responsible for the operation of seasonal household hazardous waste depots which accept hazardous waste from residents to be safely and sustainably managed.
- Depot Management: You will provide high-level service to our customers by accepting, sorting, and packing hazardous waste based on chemical properties as well as keep detailed records of onsite operations.
- Programming: You will assist with our resident education/outreach programs to spread knowledge on ways to divert waste like backyard composting, source separated organics, and other waste programs.

This job is for you if…
- Our non-negotiables: You are a current student in an Environmental or Waste Management program and are either returning to school in the fall or graduating in 2026. You have flexible availability and are available to work regular weekends throughout the summer. You have a valid, Ontario G2 (or higher) driver’s license, a clean driver’s abstract, and are comfortable operating a light-duty pick-up truck. You have, or are willing purchase, CSA-approved footwear before the start date.
- Experience: You have experience working with waste and recycling or are curious about waste and wanting to learn more. You know your way around a depot or hazardous waste site and understand that safety in these settings is a top priority.
- Skills We’re Looking For: You have a knack for clear communication and are dedicated to providing top-notch service to our members of the public. You thrive both independently and as part of a team, effortlessly adapting to changing demands and priorities. You pride yourself on being self-motivated, reliable, punctual, and have strong initiative.
